How do we support comprehension as students learn to read? Research indicates that introducing some reading comprehension strategies in a developmentally appropriate way develops reading comprehension.

This workshop will include:

  • a brief review of recent reading comprehension research and how it can be synthesised into realistic model of classroom practice for beginning readers
  • clarification of useful strategies and what the teaching looks like at this level.
  • practical ideas for developmentally appropriate activities that support reading comprehension.

"The resources shared to assist with classroom strategies were extremely helpful. The time given between the different strategies was valuable for everyone, to either discuss with colleagues or reflect on our own learning" - quote from teacher.
