Adopt a word is one of the activities we recommend on page 59 of The Oral Language Book that can be used to build and foster word consciousness among students. In 2018, Biljana Dimoska from Arawang School in ACT used this activity to teach her Year 3 students some new vocabulary. Refer to the attached photos for two examples of the lovely dioramas her students made to explain the meaning of their new words.
