Once introduced, the talking strip can be used:

in shared reading to retell the main events using an enlarged or projected strip
at the end of guided reading in the lesson wrap-up
as an independent activity after guided reading. Students could retell the text orally, draw illustrations or record notes
as a home reading activity.
