This workshop will unpack the content descriptions from the Language strand — Text structure and organisation (Australian Curriculum, Version 9).
This practical workshop will cover:
A recap on the features of explicit teaching and engaged learners in a writing lesson
An overview of the progression of sentence skills, including subject knowledge and practical ways to teach students to write sentences, linked to the writing purpose
A suggested sequence for teaching sentences, including the important role of oral language
How to organise a writing lesson so there is a focus on sentence skills and the transfer of sentences into writing, including supporting students to review and improve sentences.
