Join Louise as she unpacks the key features of explicit teaching and shares practical strategies to actively engage all learners. The workshop will highlight the role of guided practice within whole-class instruction—supporting students as they apply new skills and enabling teachers to provide immediate, targeted feedback.

A range of rich and engaging texts will be explored, giving students access to diverse content that connects across the curriculum and fosters a love of reading.

Louise will also share a clear, manageable weekly structure to explicitly teach and guide students to:

  • activate prior knowledge
  • learn and use new vocabulary
  • practise decoding and self-monitoring
  • develop reading fluency
  • comprehend increasingly complex texts
  • engage in purposeful discussions about what they read

Participants will receive:

  • sample planning templates
  • whole-class and independent teaching resources

More information and a code to join this workshop will be emailed to attendees closer to the time.
