Editing writing is challenging and a task that even experienced writers’ often dread.

There are two different components to editing that need to be explicitly taught.

  1. Editing or proofreading — this is the process of regularly checking writing for accuracy (spelling, punctuation, grammar and meaning)
  2. Recrafting or revising — improving the content of the writing in relation to the success criteria

In this workshop we will cover:

  • The skills for editing that need to be broken down into manageable steps and taught to students
  • How we can support students to transfer these skills using ‘guided practice’
  • How editing can be embedded in the writing lesson, so students have multiple opportunities to learn and practise editing.

More information and a code to join this workshop will be emailed to attendees closer to the time.
