In this two-part workshop, Louise will explore effective ways to teach sentences using explicit teaching and guided practice. She will make links to oral language and reading, and promote teaching sentences in context. A suggested scope and sequence will be introduced that breaks down simple, compound, and complex sentences. Louise will also review the writing lesson and identify how these skills can be transferred into writing, including supporting students to review and improve sentences.
The course includes:

• Exploring mini-lessons that teach students to understand and write simple, compound, and complex sentences
• Reviewing the writing lesson and identifying opportunities to apply sentence skills to create texts
