Recount planning sheet

This planning sheet is an extension on PM3 (page 220) from The Writing Book. It includes an extra box so that students can add a detail sentence to each of their events.

The exemplar plan is based on a recount of Usain Bolt winning the 200-metre final at the Rio Olympics.

Remember to model how to fill in a planning sheet before asking students to complete one. Collaborative planning can also be successful.

Students will need to be taught to take notes.
